Magic City Figure Skating Club
Magic City Figure Skating Club offers many different programs to help your child achieve his/her dreams. The MCFSC offers everything from the basics of skating to private lessons with one of our many qualified skating professionals. We strive to provide a welcoming environment and encourage the instruction, practice, enjoyment and advancement of our members in all aspects of figure skating in accordance with the United States Figure Skating. The Magic City Figure Skating Club (MCFSC) is a 501 c (3) non-profit organization committed to providing the resources necessary to help figure skaters of all levels achieve their goals. Donations to the club are tax deductible. The club’s Board of Directors oversees the club financials and monitors all club programs. The Magic City Figure Skating Club is located at the Maysa Arena, 2501 Burdick Expressway West Minot, ND 58703. The MCFSC has a varity of outstanding coaches for our skaters. These coaches are professional independent contractors who can deliver quality instruction from the basic to senior skill levels of skating. All of our coaches are certified through United States Figure Skating. Our skaters benefit not only from their coaches' strong skating background, but also their professionalism, commitment, and educational backgrounds. Our coaching staff demonstrates its professionalism, love for its work, and genuine commitment to the development of our skaters and the sport of figure skating. Each coach as been approved by the board of directors to coach club skaters on club ice. Contact the coach of your choice directly to find out rates and availability. There are fee's for private ice and the cost of each lesson. Lesson fee's are to be paid directly to the coach and private ice time (aka.. Advanced Ice) can be purchased through the Club. Together, you and your coach will determine how many lessons you will need to obtain your skating goals. Your coach can also keep you informed of any opportunities to compete individually or test through the USFSA. To find out more about Professional Coaching please vist www.skatepsa.com
The Board of Directors meet once a month usually on the second Tuesday at 7pm in the Maysa Arena Board Room. Exact date, time and location are posted on the home page monthly. Agenda requests must be submitted in writing within 24hrs prior to the scheduled Board Meeting. Please take the time to familiarize yourself with our Club’s By-Laws and Policies and Procedures.
The Junior Activities Committee (JAC) is a committee that was established to give our skaters an opportunity to develop leadership skills and provide service to others. The skaters will learn responsibility and the meaning of volunteerism, while enhancing positive character traits, strengthening friendships and becoming effective and active members of the MCFSC and having FUN.The committee will be made up of any interested club members between the ages of 10 & 19.
All advanced ice skaters at MCFSC are required to be members of the United States Figure Skating Association, (the “USFSA”). Your joint MCFSC/USFSA membership gives the skater the right of testing and competing through USFSA. The monthly “Skating Magazine” is also included in your USFSA membership dues and is sent to your home address.
The United States Figure Skating Association (USFSA) is the National Governing Body for figure skating on ice in The United States. It was formed in 1921 and only had 7 members. Today, the association has 750 member clubs and over 170,000 skaters. The USFSA belongs to the International Skating Union (ISU) which is the International figure skating governing body.
