SafeSport Program –
To report a concern about behavior that may fall under the policies of SafeSport, please contact our SafeSport compliance chair, Kevin Franks, email@example.com.
In order to “provide a safe environment for its members that is free of abuse and harassment,” US Figure Skating recently introduced its SAFESPORT PROGRAM. Under the program, member clubs are required to appoint a SafeSport Compliance Chair whose specific duties include the following.
The specific duties of the club SafeSport Compliance Chair will include:
Monitoring the SafeSport policies and procedures of the club.
Verifying that all of the coaches who are engaged in any type of coaching activity with any club skater are in compliance with the U.S. Figure Skating coaching membership rules regarding background checks and continuing education requirements.
Serve as the initial contact in the club for persons to report suspected abuse, misconduct or other violations, and when necessary, report such information to U.S. Figure Skating.
In addition, our club has a number of board members who have completed the SafeSport Program training course. To register for the SafeSport program training click here.
The U.S. Figure Skating SafeSport Program addresses the following types of abuse, harassment and misconduct:
Sexual abuse and misconduct
Physical abuse and misconduct
Emotional abuse and misconduct
Bullying, threats and harassment
Willfully tolerating misconduct
Magic City Figure Skating Club strongly encourages parents and coaches to learn more about the program by visiting the USFSA SafeSport Page, reading the program handbook, and taking the program training.
